Nike We Run Manila

NIKE
CELEBRATES
THE SPIRIT OF FILIPINOS
WITH

WE RUN MANILA 2013

We Run MNL 2013 aims to inspire, motivate and unite Filipinos to move more, move better.

The Nike We Run MNL returns for a third edition
to inspire, motivate and connect runners around the world.

In the spirit of unity, runners must sign up for the race with a “buddy”.
This is to encourage runners to constantly motivate each other
to achieve their goals in preparation for the 10 km race.

There will be training sessions in November to help runners prepare for the race.
The training sessions will be conducted in various locations around the city,
and runners will participate in Nike Training Club, get tips from athletes
and get an experience only Nike can bring.

Runners can also prepare for race day through the more than 18 million strong Nike+ community.
The new Nike+ Challenges is a feature that allows runners to set a distance goal, invite Nike+ friends to join, and race to the virtual finish line. Users can determine the name of the Challenge, mileage goal, time period and participants. Additionally, a new chat feature allows friends to encourage each other and share tips throughout the Challenge. Runners can stay motivated by checking the live leader board to track progress and see where they rank amongst their friends.

Nike We Run MNL is part of Nike’s global We Run series which is aimed at celebrating, motivating and inspiring athletes from around the world. Manila will be one of 26 cities, with 350,000 runners taking over 3 billion strides during the course of the We Run race series motivated by Nike+ and Nike Running design innovations. Nike’s We Run races range in distance from 5K to a full marathon and reflect the unique enthusiasm of each city.

From Sao Paulo, to Seoul, to Singapore,
runners will be moved to action through a series of unique experiences.

On December 1, 2013, 15,000 runners are expected to take to the streets of the historical Marikina City and run the 10 km in celebration of the spirit of unity that is significantly Filipino.

It's been a long time since I watched a concert.
Nicki Minaj, I think?
LOL

My TOP 5 OneRepublic songs

Good Life

Oh, this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life
Good life! Good vibes!

There's no reason to complain to your life,
just enjoy it! :)

Say (All I Need)

Do you know where your love is?
Do you think that you lost it?
You felt it so strong, but
Nothing's turned out how you wanted

This is a song for the broken-hearted! Tugs! Tugs?! LOL

Stop and Stare

Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're here not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, can you see what I see?

This song is perfect for those who feel lost and wondering why is this happening,
that this isn't what they really wanted.

( Super lakas makaLSS nito :D )

Secrets

Tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
I'm sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

This time
Don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

Another song that I super love!
I also love the music video. :D

Counting Stars

Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard,
Said, no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars

To be honest with you guys,
Secrets is really my favorite OneRepublic songs.
But when I asked my friend of his fave OneRepublic song,
he suggeste me this one.

So I tried to listen to this song
(and also read comments in Youtube),
then I was like,
WOW,
so this is now my favorite OneRepublic song!
HAHA

Why do you look forward to watch them perform live?

I haven't seen them perform live.
And I would love to watch them singing my favorite songs LIVE!

Rev Up You Ride + Blogger Contest

Foton is known for their pick-ups, vans, trucks, and heavy equipment but now,
Foton is joining the van market with their brand new van!

Why would you swap your old car for a Foton?

The View Traveller is a 14-seater van.
I think this would be the BEST car to bring for family vacations.
It is also great for road trips with my barkada.
It has ample space for my family and friends plus the bags we need to bring.

It has an overall length of 5,380 mm, overall width of 1,920 mm, and overall height of 2,285 mm.
It makes the trip MORE CONVENIENT.
No worries for the space.
No more worries for the bags.

It has an elegant and modern while giving an aerodynamic shape.
It looks sosyal. :D

Propelling the View Traveller is the segment’s most powerful engine: a Cummins ISF 2.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with Bosch common rail direct injection (CRDi) and turbocharger technology.
(I'm not an expert in cars.)
With this, I believe that this van can last long road trips and can never be a hassle to its passengers.

Foton is known for heavy equipment.
So I believe that this van is durable just like their original equipment.

There's no final price is yet, but it’s said to be less than P 1,400,000.
For practical people, this can be a great deal!
Super affordable without sacrificing the quality!

Freeway Art: The Juan Luna Collection Launch

Freeway has always been known for celebrating the lives of prominent Filipino Artists. This time is no different as Freeway chose to honor a man whose works of art have stood the test of time and whose masterpieces still continue to live on in the hearts of many.

This man is none other than Juan Luna, Filipino Master for Visual Arts.

It was a great pleasure to have a VIP pass to the Freeway x Juan Luna Collection Launch. The event was held on October 10, 2013 at the Lopez Memorial Museum in Pasig City. It was definitely a grand fusion of art and fashion as the event was attended by several prominent figures from both ends such as fashion bloggers, art enthusiasts, critics, media and many more. Of course, the celebration of Juan Luna wouldn’t be complete without the works of Juan Luna himself.

Guests were able to view a number of his key pieces through the Lopez Museum’s on going exhibit, Trajectories, which will be available for viewing until October 31, 2013. The exhibit also features the prominent works of Filipino Master Felix Hidalgo plus masterpieces of esteemed National Artists artists such as Vicente Manansala, HR Ocampo, Fernando Amorsolo among others. It is the first time in 8 years that the Lopez Memorial Museum has had a lineup of historic greats such as these.
(Click this for more info on the exhibit)

Hosted by ANC anchor Lexi Schulze, the night kicked off with a video presentation of Juan Luna’s life and works. Furthermore, Freeway was ecstatic to have Art Historian, Mr. Santiago Pilar, and Lopez Memorial Museum Director, Ms. Mercedes Lopez Vargas, talk more about Luna’s achievements and masterpieces. Through this, the guests were able to know more about the Filipino Master’s beginnings and great contributions to the Philippine art history.

The real highlight of the night though was the exclusive fashion show! Guests were able to catch a glimpse of the first ever Filipino Masters Collector’s Series Juan Luna Collection as the 24 piece debut collection was unveiled, including a few shirts for men. The fashion show showcased highlight famous Luna pieces such as El Flautista, I am Cold, Una Dama Francesca, Espana y Filipinas, Fencing Positions, Rice Harvesting, Various Subjects and A Roman.

Truly, the event was something to remember as guests went home that night filled with more knowledge, appreciation and awe for fashion as Freeway hared yet another superb historical figure for the entire art and fashion society to see. I really admire the bright minds of the people behind Freeway  they showed their patriotism by using the works of various national artists as the designs of their clothes, bags and accessories.

Trajectories Exhibit at the Lopez Museum and Library

The Lopez Museum and Library is showcasing a number of key pieces from their collection in their upcoming exhibition, Trajectories. Works of 19th Century Filipino Masters Juan Luna and Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo will take center stage, together with works of conservatives Juan Arellano, Fabian de la Rosa, and Fernando Amorsolo as well as works by modernists Victorio Edades, Nena Saguil, Botong Francisco, H.R. Ocampo, and Fernando Zobel, just to name a few. Pottery from the Calatagan excavation, rare Filipiniana books, Philippine maps dating back to the 16th century, and early colonial Tipos del Pais prints will complete the exhibition. Trajectories is open to the public from September 6 to October 31, 2013.

Trajectories aims to examine the way the museum collection grew in relation to the strengths and tastes of the different people who directed the museum. Emphasis will be given on understanding how Lopez family members, who took the reins of the privately-owned museum and library, grew the collection into one of the most comprehensive Filipiniana collection accessible to the public. With library, archive, and art collections spanning over 600 years of Philippine history, the museum will exhibit 47 Hidalgos, 17 of the notable works by Luna and key pieces representing the art movements of the 20th century Philippines.

Top 5 must-sees in Lopez Museum’s Trajectories

1. The aforementioned De Moluccis Insulis, the oldest book in the collection

This 490-year old book chronicles Magellan’s expedition to circumnavigate the globe in 1519. The book was written by Maximilianus Transylvanus after he interviewed the survivors of Victoria, the only surviving galleon from Magellan’s expedition.

2. Studies of Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo’s Per Pacem et Libertatem from the St. Louis Exposition of 1904

In 1903, Hidalgo was paid PhP10,000 by the United States colonial government in the Philippines to create a painting representing peace and liberty under American rule. It was featured in the Universal Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1904. Interestingly, the fair also featured live indigenous Filipino people, such as the Aetas and Bagobos, as bahag-wearing and dog-eating primitive people.

3. EspaƱa y Filipinas (1886) by Juan Luna

This tall painting is one of the most important pieces in the museum’s collection. A version of an allegorical painting of Spain and the Philippines, this was commissioned from Luna by the Foreign Ministry in Madrid after seeing an earlier version of the subject, given by Luna to his friend, Pedro Paterno. Later, in 1888, the painting was entered in the Exposicion Universal de Barcelona, and was declared hors concours.

4. The first complete map of the Philippines

The Murillo Velarde map is the first map of our country that was made by a Filipino, Nicolas Cruz Bagay, and printed in the Philippines. First published in 1734, the map shows completeness in the names of coastal towns and interior topography. It was the most accurate and largest ever drawn map of the archipelago and became a model copied by other cartographers for the remainder of the eighteenth century.

5. In the Market Place (1955) by Anita Magsaysay-Ho

This painting was acquired by the museum in the 1999 Christie’s auction in Singapore. The purchase paved the way for Filipino artists to gain higher international recognition.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the museum will be holding a lecture series in partnership with Ateneo Art Gallery. Entitled Understanding Philippine Visual Art through the collections of Ateneo Art Gallery and Lopez Museum and Library, the series aims to introduce participants to pre-colonial period to contemporary art through talks by experts on various topics that will combine a discussion of the historical context of production plus more a more in depth look at specific artists and artworks. What sets this lecture series apart from others is that participants will have the opportunity to study the actual artworks that are being discussed, giving them a greater appreciation than images projected onto a screen ever could. Some of the speakers for the lecture series include Jose Maria Cariono, Patrick Flores, Ambeth Ocampo, and Eileen Legaspi-Ramirez. The lectures will be either both the Lopez Memorial Museum and the Ateneo Art Gallery for eight consecutive Saturdays, which started last September 07, with each day dedicated to a different period of Philippine art.

Trajectories is open to the public until December 20, 2013.

The Lopez Memorial Museum is at the ground floor, Benpres Building, Exchange Road corner Meralco Avenue, Pasig City. Museum days and hours are Mondays to Saturdays, except holidays, 8am-5pm.
